Be Like Wingstop...

I find motivation and inspiration in all types of places. My newest inspiration came from an IG post from Rick Ross about Wingstop selling thighs due to the wing shortage. When I saw that post, all I thought about was resiliency.

We often talk about being resilient and recovering from setbacks. But what does that mean? How do you become resilient?

Resilience is defined as an ability to recover from or adjust to misfortune or change. It is the ability to bounce back!

Becoming resilient is a process. It involves a mindset shift and active work.

Below are a few steps to help become more resilient.

  1. Acknowledge and recognize the struggle.

  2. Find a sense of purpose

  3. Believe in yourself and your abilities

  4. Find a strong support system but don't feel the need to tell everyone about your struggle

  5. Find what brings you joy and take a mental break

  6. Embrace and accept change

  7. Be flexible

  8. Set goals and maintain perspective

  9. Give yourself compassion and nurture yourself

  10. Work on and develop problem solving skills and critical thinking skills

Life happens and misfortunes occur; how you respond and react is vital. Take a moment to reflect on a trial you have faced, how did you react and how did you bounce back? What could you have done differently. Now, make a plan to work on your resiliency. Remember that with resiliency, the end result may not be what you initially envisioned and that is OK. Get creative, be flexible and bounce back!

Resiliency is one of my favorite topics to cover in my learning frameworks course and I always end that class with Big Sean - Bounce Back. If you don’t know the song, check it out.
